Got Instruments?

Highline Music4Life
You may have seen the "Got Beer" and "Got Art" signs posted around Des Moines, Federal Way and Burien promoting the upcoming Poverty Bay Blues & Brews Festival and Poverty Bay Art Festival happening on September 10th.  What you may not be aware of is that proceeds from the Poverty Bay Blues & Brews Fest support the Highline Music4Life program.  This program provides gently used musical instruments to 5th & 6th grade students in the Highline School District.  The program's goal is to acquire musical instruments, supplies and other resources from citizens who understand the value of music in a child’s life. Anyone who loves music and believes in music education for all children can join the effort!

During the Poverty Bay Blues & Brews Fest, we will be hosting an instrument drive.   We challenge our readers to check their attics and garages - if you discover that you have a musical instrument suitable for a grade school student, please bring it to the Festival! Not only will you be able to enjoy some quality local brews and great music,  you will also make a difference and give the gift of music to a well-deserving child!  Help us help school children receive the benefits of participation in music programs in our schools, at home and in the community!

Highline Music4Life is also hosting an instrument drive on September 17th with drop-off locations at Key Bank in Des Moines and Windermere Real Estate in Burien. The Port of Seattle and Alaska Airlines have already joined in to participate in this drive!  If our readers are interested in organizing an instrument drive in their workplace, church or other organization, please contact Steve Swank or Dan Johnson.
