On Saturday, March 19th, the Rotary Club of Des Moines joined forces with the City of Des Moines and other local agencies to help clean-up Sonju Park. The day was spent clearing weeds from the apple orchard and removing brush in preparation for the next steps of the project. It was a great day of fellowship and the sun even came out!

Sonju Park will eventually become a public green space as well as a local source of fresh fruit from the orchard and vegetables from the P-Patch garden for the Des Moines Food Bank and other. There will be about 20 plots for lease, plus a community herb garden and space to grow fresh food for the Des Moines Area Food Bank.
