Des Moines Sonju Park Work Party

The Early Morning Crew
On Saturday, March 19th, the Rotary Club of Des Moines joined forces with the City of Des Moines and other local agencies to help clean-up Sonju Park.  The day was spent clearing weeds from the apple orchard and removing brush in preparation for the next steps of the project. It was a great day of fellowship and the sun even came out!

Sonju Park will eventually become a public green space as well as a local source of fresh fruit from the orchard and vegetables from the P-Patch garden for the Des Moines Food Bank and other.  There will be about 20 plots for lease, plus a community herb garden and space to grow fresh food for the Des Moines Area Food Bank.  For more information on the project, visit the Sonju Park Facebook page.
